12 Jun Grand Seiko Sōkō Special Editions
Grand Seiko has just unveiled their newest USA Exclusive special editions. This is a continuation of Japan’s 24 sekki that signifies nature’s ever changing seasons. These two pieces are inspired by the end of Autumn, sōkō, when the first frost embraces the forest.
Each model represents the light and shadow found within Arashiyama bamboo forest in Kyoto, Japan. The green featured on the seconds hand & power reserve indicator epitomize the life of the Arashiyama bamboo forest in it’s peak season at the end of August. Vertical texture of the dials reflects the majestic stalks of the bamboo.
The soko collection features a 39mm and the 9R65 Spring Drive caliber. These timepieces pay tribute to this moment in nature, when its green hues are dramatically enlivened in the contrasting expression of ‘light’ (SBGA427) and ‘shadow’ (SBGA429). The beauty these two timepieces display represent the highest level of Japanese craftsmanship unique to Grand Seiko.
